Roadtrip on Iceland's Ring Road PART ONE

This post is LONG overdue, and I am taking a quick break from thesis writing to finally write it! I literally have hundreds of pictures from the trip, so I'm going to try and choose my favorites. I did the trip with my good friend Anna Maria. She is from Iceland, so I had my own personal translator and guide on the trip. I´m going to do these next posts in pieces, so here goes!

In the north of Iceland, trying to lift the big stones at the old Viking village where they had several old viking games/events you could compete in.

Goðaföss is just east of Akureyri. It was 24 degrees (about 70F) out that day! A perfect day to hike around the waterfalls.

At Dimmuborgir where there are miles and miles of lava formation you can hike through, in, and around... It was almost 75F when we were here!I found trees! And they made me VERY VERY happy! But unfortunately, with trees, come BUGS.

Dad's 2nd Trip to Iceland

The trip in pictures because they can say many more words than I can write!

At Betty's farm, on one of Dad's last nights in Iceland, we were able to watch the sun set all the way down to the horizon, touch the ocean, and bounce right back up again. Our trip together was only one week after the summer solstice so we had more than 22 hours of daylight each day! Time was definitely on our side!

A long overdue update

So I know it has been way too long since I have updated my adventures in Iceland. Over the next week or so, I will be writing about my exciting summer in Iceland! Stay tuned!

The Sun Has Returned!!

My roommate and I saw the sun for the first time in 3.5 months. It was quite the emotional experience! Like they always say... you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone!

A weekend at Betty's

A few weeks ago I spent the weekend at Betty's. (She's the farmer that I helped with sheep herding last fall). The weather was beautiful on Saturday. We took an 1.5 hour walk along her beach. We had to leave early Sunday morning so as to not get stuck in the snow storm. We definately cut it a little close! All in all, it was a nice weekend away from town.

A Welcoming Sunset

After a very eventful Christmas vacation, I safely returned home to Ísafjörður. I was welcomed by a few days of beautiful weather, lots of snow on the ground, and amazing sunsets. Enjoy :)

These pictures show just how close, but how so far away the sun is from touching the town! This is as close as I will get to seeing the sun until the end of February! How I wish I was on the top of that mountain...
